22. January 2007:

Time for another entry.

This month I had my hands full with the Morini. Suddenly I had to take it apart. This may sound strange, but my brother-in-laws brother who is going to powder coat the frame, said that he would be able to do it now. However, now his place of work is so busy that they don't have time for it. Also, a colleague of his is going to do the job, so it's going to be a while before I will get the parts back. No harm, though, because I have lots of other stuff to do.

You may think that a month is more than sufficient to take a motorcycle apart, but the explanation is to be found in all the many details I have to change before I can have it coated. As I wrote the 1. of November I mounted rear sets. In connection to that, some brackets were obsolete - the have been cut off. I made some small pipes for mounting the rear indicators. The nuts for the rack are welded to the frame. I've made brackets for the rear fender and tail light, and cut the fander so it goes flush with the frame. Because the rack also has to be powder coated I had to finish it, too. I had to redo the whole thing, though I thought it to be finished, but because I decided on another place for the rear indicators, I had to change it all together.

Worms on a new diet?

In addition to that my time has been spent cleaning all the small parts. They are put into small labelled plastic bags and ready for the assembly. Talk about dirty! For instance, I have never seen so much dirt in a pair of carburators. Also the needles had some extreme scores that I have no answer to how got there. It now makes more sense why the acceleration was so unstable and the performance generally weak (probably also caused by the totally clogged air filters!!!) The clutch was also covered with sticky goo. It'll be a pleasure to have a clean clutch and, not the least, hear the lovely rattling sound from it.

So, that's it for now. I think I'll make a list with photos of all the things I have done. This, though, not before I get the frame back from coating.
